Surgical skills training simulators

In cooperation with Johnson and Johnson Ethicon

In 2012 we started our cooperation with Ethicon, which is part of Johnson and Johnson, on production of simulators for training of specific cardiovascular surgical skills.

The basic idea of this project is connecting surgeons from the whole world with the work of physicaly disabled people and this connection leading to education and training of particular surgeries.   With the support and organisation of J&J we were able to make this idea a reality.

Once a year the J&J Ethicon announces a project to produce a simulator for a particular surgery.  Surgeons from all over the world enter this competition and they send in their suggestions for the simulator.

Simulation award – EACTS partnership

In 2011 the winner was declared to be Jaime Arroyo from Spain with his anastomosis sawing simulator.  Our company was given the task to transform his principle into serial production form and to produce it. During aproximately a half year period we managed to accomplish this task and the Arroyo’s Anastomotic Simulator was introduced in October 2012.

In 2012 Niels Verberkmoes from Netherlands won the mitral valve surgery simulation project.  After several months, in October 2013, the serial version, Verberkmoes Mitral Sim, was introduced at EATCS in Vienna.

In 2013 two winners were declared – Roger Devotini and Abdullrazak Hossien with the simulation of several techniques of heart aorta surgery.  Due to great reality of the simulated environment of the aorta, ETHICON finaly decided to transform Roger Devotini’s simulator into serial form.  We introduced the Devotini Aortic Sim in October 2014 at the EATCS congress in Milan.

Since 2012 we have produced more than 6.000 pieces of simulators that were supplied to 29 countries around the world.

The next project in which we participate is a demonstration kit for sellers of surgical sawing.  The sellers use these demonstration kits for presentations and illustrative tests of qality of the surgical supplies produced by ETHICON.
